First off, I want to apologize for my absence lately. Between schooling and working, I haven’t had the opportunity to read as much as I’d like, and when I do read, it’s not the type of books I’d like to review for you all. I’ve become decently picky about what I review, and I don’t feel that I’ve read anything that I’ve been compelled to write a review on recently.
Secondly, I want to do a HUGE shoutout to Danielle Harding Nevins, who is one of the nicest, most inspirational people I’ve had the pleasure of meeting. I had the opportunity to Beta Read Angel of Shadow for her, and every step of the way was extremely enjoyable and fabulous. The book releases tomorrow, January 13th! Onto the review!

Half-angels, known as Nephilim, have all but destroyed the surface of the Earth. Yet for Kali Michaels, her life is now much more complicated than simply surviving. Grappling with her own powerful identity, she worries her connection to the world of Shadows could destroy those around her.
And what if she hurts Tiamat Wormwood, the Nephilim outcast who has given everything to save her? Tiamat and Kali know they have no future—not when outside forces and Kali’s own power push both the humans and the Nephilim to the brink of extinction.
As she fights to stop the inevitable, she is led to question who her real enemies are, and whether the ultimate threat may actually be herself.
** The author gave me an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review**
As I was a beta reader for this book, I feel that it has a special place in my heart. Tiamat and Kali still went through their challenges, but having the opportunity to have a say in their growth has been amazing. I felt that this book excelled and pushed past the boundaries set by the first book and others of this genre, and I’m so glad to have been able to read it.
Their love story went through some trials and tribulations, but I felt they were exactly appropriate for what was going on in this book world at the time. Their specific challenges were unique; I hadn’t really read anything like these books in a while. I felt that the entire thing was just fabulous. I have a lot of hopes for their love story as it continues to the (hopefully) third book.
The world in the story is fun, descriptive, and large. There are many places yet to be discovered, and many places that we have been on this winding journey. The battle between good and evil is far from over, and we have front row seats to the show. I loved the ratio of travel to fighting to emotional scenes, and I thought they were all hit on the head very well.
All in all, I believe this is a really well thought out and fun read. I recommend it to anyone who may enjoy an ‘end of the world, angels v demons’ type book. The author, Danielle, makes the experience of reading her work so much better because of her passion and immersive qualities. She truly cares about her works and the people who read them.
I also want to stress that the release date is TOMORROW! January 13th!!
